Yoshi Goes Camping

Overview: Create a stop-motion video

Sketches

This project was to create a stop-motion mini-video. Assigned as a group project, my partner and I began brainstorming ideas. With limited supplies of what we could use to make a movie, my partner had some Yoshi figurines. As we brainstormed, we came up with the idea of having Yoshi and his friends go camping and roast marshmallows.

In Progress

When creating any stop motion, every shot has to look the same, including the lighting and angles. We set up our scene using a light box, my DSLR, and a tripod. The overall process of shooting each shot took over five hours. It was a tedious process, but the results were worth it.

After taking each photo, the photos were combined to make a mp4. That was then edited in Adobe Premiere. With a few J-cuts and L-cuts and background music, the video was coming together. What made this video even better was the Yoshi sound effects.
