After selecting the name of my company, I began working on the logo. I wanted the logo to work as a brand and a combination mark. Hex Aromas' entire brand is based on the hexagon shape. The logo is to look like a hexagon diffuser with smoke coming out. Once the brandmark was done, I worked on ways to combine the design with type. The shape of the letter ‘x’ stood out to me. So, I combined the angles of the hexagon and ‘x’ to create the combination mark.
Hex Aroma is a home fragrance company specializing in candles, room sprays, and diffusers. I came up with the name when I thought about the current brands and that there wasn’t a candle brand with an angsty side. When you think about home fragrance companies, you think of soft and delicate. Hex Aroma breaks the standard look of a candle brand with serif fonts and dark colors. This home fragrance company is for the non-traditional fragrance buyer.
With the logo done, I began working on the brand, labels, and packaging. I wanted the scents to fit with the brand, and I came up with ‘Misfortunate Bloodline,’ ‘Emotional Torment,’ and ‘Grain of Salt.’ The idea behind the icon scents was to illustrate the words distressedly. The products are packaged by scent in a home fragrance box. The box is shaped like a hexagon. Not only is the packaging designed to hold the products, but it is also a shipper. The primary material for the packaging is cardboard. I chose to use it rather than paper because it's more durable and environmentally friendly.

What is a product without a website? The Hex Aroma website allows users to shop and learn more about the company. Users can create an account and subscribe to monthly home fragrance box sets.
